Movie Review
A Christmas Carol (1984)
December 23, 2023
This is a Christmas staple in my household and has been for several years. I love it. My parents love it. If my dog had more than one brain cell then he would love it.

This is easily my favorite interpretation of the story that I've seen, and from what I remember of the book it is really accurate to the story. George C Scott makes an excellent Scrooge with his persistent frown and the way he growls out his lines like he holds a personal grudge against the sound of his own voice. He and David Warner (Bob Cratchit) were both outstanding performances in my opinion, but every character was great in their own little way. Like, Anthony Walters' (Tiny Tim's) awkward delivery is so sweet and I love it.

Speaking of Tiny Tim, this movie makes me cry every time I watch it. Like goddamn it.

And the music, the costuming, they're so good too. I love how everyone is wearing like 20 layers. I wonder if someone has done a fashion review of this movie breaking down the accuracy of the costumes... I need to go look for that now. The soundtrack by Nick Bicat is really charming and does a great job complimenting the scenes.

I've run out of things to say at the moment, but I really do love this movie.
